Those of you have been following along on our journey to be parents should remember that we had the most amazing baby shower thrown for us this past March. To be honest, I went back and forth on the idea of setting up a nursery prior to matching. On the one hand, I do believe that you manifest things with your thoughts and so having a nursery up every day would keep our focus in the right areas. But on the other hand, how depressing to walk by an empty room waiting for your baby.
I am happy to say that it is not one single bit depressing to walk by each and every day. Oftentimes, I find myself just staring in there because there is something so wonderful about the space we have created.
I spent my last day of summer break tidying up in there and taking some photos so that we could share with you all. We will start our room tour with what will quickly become my favorite place to sit with baby Robins.
The reading nook. Reading is something that is so important to our family and something we cannot wait to share with our baby. Reading a book provides you with an opportunity to leave your everyday world to discover something new and there is something so magical about that. Draped on the back of the rocking chair is a handmade crocheted blanket made by my Nana. Every grand and great grand in the family has received one. The other day when I was visiting with her; she asked me "when am I going to get to meet my 18th great grandkid?" That is quite a bit of crocheting!
Our crib was one of the first things that I picked out. Even though I don't want to admit it; I got sold by an instagram ad! I saw it and I knew I had to have it for our baby. There is something modern yet traditional about it; which is our style in a nutshell. The pictures were hand drawn by a friend who is a local artist {shout out @marpohl}. We picked the plants we wanted and she went to work!
We kept a daybed in this room that will serve as an additional snuggle spot but also a space for guests when they come to stay. We weren't quite sure what we wanted above the bed to adorn the wall, but when we saw that piece it became obvious. Not only does it have great colors but it looks like a scene straight out of a storybook. Additionally, it looks identical to the place that we took our honeymoon - so a nice memory tagged along with it {Curacao}. I don't think it actually is Curacao but there is a dutch-like canal there, as well. *say cheese Jake*
The space we've created is the perfect balance of whimsical and peaceful; colorful and calm. The dogs already love it and Ethel leaves our room to sleep in here nearly every night. We can't wait to meet the tiny human that will grow in this space! XOXO
