Colin and I recently got back from a vacation to the beautiful island of Kauai. We love to travel and immerse ourselves into different cultures and places. We rarely stay in hotels anymore; usually opting for an AirBnB or apartment, where we can truly live like a local. This trip was no different.
While I could go on and on about how amazingly beautiful it was, I think showing you would just be simpler. However, even these photos don't even do it justice.
We took the trip with two other couples who we have been friends with for somewhere around 7 years (some friendships longer with individual people). These other two couples have been there with us through our wedding, COVID shut down, infertility journey and now adoption. One couple adopted their beautiful son a little over a year ago and we lived through that experience with them. You know those friends that feel less like friends and more like family? That is them. We call them our "Framily!"
We filled our days with; beach walks, poke bowls, sunrises, sunsets, shopping around Hanalei, chicken wings, adventuring, swimming and listening to music. The unanimous favorite activity was the boat tour of the NaPali coast. Not only did we see the most breathtaking views of a coast that cannot be accessed by land, but we also saw an entire pod of dolphins jumping and flipping just feet away from the boat, two sea turtles while snorkeling on the coral reef, went inside a sea cave and stood under a fresh waterfall. It was an experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives.
A few of the mornings, I took a yoga mat to a deck that was in our front yard and did a solo yoga practice. It was such a special time for me to just be with myself, think about the future and simply take in my surroundings. I feel so lucky to be living this life and that reflection time was perfect for me to reflect on that.
All in all it was the experience of a lifetime. We can't wait to take more trips with friends, family and our little one in the future. xoxo - Christina
Such a magical trip! We love the Framily and thank you for supporting our adoption journey as well! xoxo
